The Caged Angel

S. Italy x Reader

“I don´t even know why I´m here…” He said, tears forming in the corners of his eyes, “And still, I keep going.”

It was just a legend. Something that no one knew if it was true or false. Something that could be just a lie, and still…and still he made his voyage to such isolated island. Of course, he made sure he could get support in case he got lost. And no matter how much he repeated himself to call the support, he would just not do it and keep walking deeper into the forest, not caring his senses were begging for him to stop.

No, he didn´t cared.

Being the ignorant he is, of course wouldn´t care. He was often described as jerk and arrogant, but the truth was that he couldn´t help it but be like that. He born like that, it wasn´t his fault…at all.

He remembered the promise he made to those that failed on their expedition to find “The Caged Angel”. He was totally reluctant to not be one of them, his pride was too strong that he would sacrifice his energies only to find such legend. After all, the legend was so old that many tried to find said angel, and as expected, failed to find. And he had to be un-fortunate one to be send to find it. Plus the promises, it would put him in shame if he failed.

He would be under the shame as the others, and he was so into not being one for them.
He kept walking, cutting every leaf that would block his way. The sweat was making it hard to have a firm grip on the sword, and the fact that mosquitoes were constantly biting him wasn´t helping either.

The buzzing of bees near his ear would make him flinch and move away, his face hitting spider webs whenever he left focus on his path. Dried mud covering his face, and all this to find the character of the legend.

“F*ck mother nature.” He grumbled under his breath, swinging the sword and cutting the hug leafs that hung from the plants. He was already getting tired. No. He wasn´t getting tired because he was already tired since long f*cking ago, “Stupid nature with f*cking weird-ss plants and idiot animals.”

“If you find her, don´t stare to the angel´s eyes too long.” Feliciano said, giving Lovino some pats on his shoulders.

“And why I can´t?” Lovino asked, crossing his arms, “I do whatever thing I want, even if that stupid angel doesn´t approves it.”

Feliciano sighed, “Ve~ Lovi, stop being stupid. The reason why you can´t look at the eyes too long is because then you will fall on your knees.”

“And ´fall-on-knees´ what means?” Lovino scoffed.

“That you will be enchanted by the beauty of the angel.”

“And why you keep saying ´the angel´ instead of the genre?”

“Because we don´t know if the angel is female or male. Anyways, the ship is waiting for you. Hurry up.”

The memory made him scoff. If I stare too long to her eyes, then I will be enchanted? What is this? Some type of cheesy theater or something?

The sun kept strong as ever, not even some clouds to cover it temporarily. If at least that happened, that would make Lovino satisfied. But no, the universe hates him so much that no even that will happen.

Oh, guess what? It seems like the heavens had heard his pleas!

Soon, in the sky were towering immense grey-ish clouds, finally blocking the sun. Noticing this, Lovino felt relieved and decided to finally take a break. Letting the raindrops re-fresh his sweaty body and mud-stained face. Hopefully, he would feel better with the tears of clouds.

He inhaled and exhaled softly. Finally feeling better after a stressing day in such island. He would have to enjoy the rest of the day, and start once again his journey.

Without him noticing, it was already nighttime. Moment in which he had to be careful from stepping on a snake or encountering with an alligator. That would be a traumatizing experience…if he would even get to escape from terrifying animals.

However, his luck seemed like wasn´t by his side, and unfortunately he heard the hissing from some animal. The hissing wasn´t from a snake, from all what he knows, at least. The hissing was heavy and long. Alligators don´t hiss, do they? No, not at all. So what other kind of horrible animal was that?

He felt something slide behind his back, maybe it was a snake. A new type of snake he knows. And that brings the big disadvantage of not knowing if the snake was venomous, or it was a anaconda or something worst. Wait…anacondas don´t go out of the water, or was it the opposite?

The fear was already too hard within him that his mind wasn´t focusing in thinking coherently or with sense.

After debating if it was a snake or other creature, he noticed some eyes glowing in the dark. Those eyes held nothing; since they were from some creature he doesn´t knows.
But the angel isn´t the only fascinating creature in the island. There, is also a man with goat legs…he is often called…

[1] Chivato

The creature launched towards him in an in-human speed, opening its mouth far too widely and revealing sharp razor teeth. Eyes glowing red and claws coming out from its ´hands´.

Lovino curled a scream, instantly standing up from the ground and running before the creature would catch him. For a second, he thought the horrible creature would disappear. But it wasn´t like that.

Short after he began running, he heard heavy footsteps after him. The obvious signal that the creature was after his traumatized mind and weak body after not receiving the proper resting time.

Even if he would repeat himself to not look behind, he did. As soon his eyes met creature´s eyes, the weird creature laughed like a human. An insane, creepy laughter.

“Will I die in such way…?” Lovino mumbled, reluctant to turn around and face his terrifying destiny and the cruel reality.

Before he could, he tripped with a root that was out from the ground, his face making contact with the rocks and dead leafs.

His eyes slowly closed, waiting for the actions of the wicked creature. But it never came. Or maybe yes?

Because suddenly he felt too tired. But in other way. He couldn´t describe the feeling. He felt like falling asleep, but still conscious of his surroundings.

As he opened again his eyes, he couldn´t describe what he was seeing. Literally, he couldn´t He was like in some sort of room with pure white walls. No windows and no doors. He was trapped somewhere. But at the same time he was free.

“Lovino?”

The way the person spoke his name made him feel content and comfortable. It was like the voice had some sort of effect on him.

In the distance, his eyes caught the form of a female, walking closer to him. The strong white light, plus the white walls was reflecting on her face, blocking her facial features.

When she was already closer, she kneeled on front of him, resting his head gently on her lap. Fingers locking in his hair.

He felt so safe and comfortable. Like if he was in heaven. But sure he wasn´t there yet.
The light moved slightly as he caught the sight of locks of silky [H/C] cascading down the girl´s shoulder.

Until he noticed a pair of wings moving behind her.

An angel… Lovino whispered dreamily.

The angel didn´t spoke, just kept caressing his cheek and looking at him with caring. The light finally faded, revealing the face of such beautiful angel.

Slowly, the angel started to fade. And soon, he was no longer staring to her face, but to the blue sky.

He rose up from the ground and touched his head. He felt like it was going to explode.

It was a f*cking dream Lovino thought angered, thinking that he was finally in heaven.

In second thought he wouldn´t go there after all, but anyways.

“Now what?!” He yelled, looking up to the sky, “I´m so done with this! I will f*cking call the support and go away from this sh*tty island!”

“Why are you going so fast?”

His breath hitched at the sudden voice. He turned around, finding what he was looking from since many days ago.

“The Caged Angel!” Lovino yelled, staring at the angel trapped inside the cage.

“Everyone is wrong.” You muttered, looking to the ground, “I´m not an angel.”

“You aren´t? Then, how you explain those wings, huh?” Lovino walked closer to the cage.

“I´m like…between and angel and a demon. We can say I´m like an angel-demon from Purgatory.” You said, walking closer to the steel barriers.

“I´ve never heard about something like that.”

“No one has ever heard about it. We are despised even in Purgatory. So scratch away the fact that I´m an angel. I may look like one, and every human being confuses me for one. I´m like…an imitation?” You sighed, “And after all this years, you are the first one to find me.”

“I know.” Then he remembered something.

He had to call the supports and tell them that he had completed the task! He has found “The Caged ´Angel´”!

“I know what are your intentions.” You said, grabbing one of the metal bars, moving your wings slightly.

“I can´t go back to my homeland with those people thinking I have failed this, when in reality I finished it. If go back there without you, they will laugh at me.”

“That your only fear? Do you know what they will do to me once they arrive here?” You gritted you teeth, “They are going to keep me caged. Earn money with my misery. What´s the point in caging again if you are going to take me out of here and tie me up?”

Lovino kept in silence. He looked to the ground, avoiding eye contact.

“That´s what I thought.” You said, looking at him indifferently. Extending your arms, they passed between the metal bars. Your fingers grazing his face, “I thought you were different.”

“What you mean by that?” He slapped your hand away, “I thought you said I was the first one to find y—”

“—I lied.” You said, glaring at him, “The only reason why they always ´failed´ in their quest, was because they told me the same thing as you. I had no other choice than erase all memories they had about me.”

Lovino looked up, “Will you erase my memory?”

“Very likely to.”

He sighed, secretly gripping his sword. He was going to open the cage and tie you up.

“…But I guess I can forgive you if you open the cage and let me wander freely.”

Lovino stared to your lips, “Only with a condition.”

“Which is it?”

“Give me a kiss and I shall let you wander freely, just as you want.” Lovino said sternly.

“I can…only if you open the cage—Anyways, in what other way I would?”

“I guess…”
