Reach Your Star

America x Reader

***

Alfred sunk his head between his legs, back pressed against the wall.

He was trying to crawl away. Crawl away from the numerous faces that had amusement written on their faces. Wicked smiles that showed just how much they loved to see him like that; scared.

Maybe, maybe for them to see him in that state wasn´t enough, some pointed at him, calling names.

"Stop it." Was the firm voice of the teacher, breaking the living hell for Alfred. Hopefully, they will stop for a few days before they do it again. And then again the teacher would make them stop. It was a cycle that Alfred wished that would stop. It had to stop.

Everyone except Alfred froze on their places at knowing the teacher´s presence.

“Everyone go back to their seats. The next time this happens I will need to have a meeting with your parents and talk about this.” The teacher said, looking at everyone sternly. Then looked at Alfred, that was with his head against his head, his arms supporting him,”Alfred deserves respect from everyone. Just because he is schizophrenic means that you all will treat him differently.”

Some took short glances to Alfred. Others didn´t.

It came the end of the day, and it was time for everyone to get back to their home.

As the years passed by, Alfred assisted to groups that helped him to have conscious of the mental disorder he had. Every afternoon, after school, visiting the hospital for daily inspections and exams.

He was getting better, but still had schizophrenia.

The bullying ceased. But the hurt from the past years accumulated in his heart and mind. Making him to become depressed at knowing that he was never going to be healthy again. It was heartbreaking.

His parents treated him with so much love. And he would often cheer up again. But only to get depressed again.

Alfred looked out of the window, his concentration fully to the exterior blue-sky that didn´t contrasted at all with his eyes.

But his sky-blue were lighter than the day sky. It has always been like that.

The bell rang, signalizing the end of classes. Finally, he was going to get home again. Lock himself in his room to do the same boring routine. But he was already used to it, anyways.

“Hi, mom.” He greeted as he opened the car´s door, his mom smiling at him.

“Hello, Alfred.” She replied as always. But this time she sounded happier than usual. Anyways, Alfred got her usual cheerfulness from her, “How was your day?”

He sighed, “It was ok, as always. Nothing new.”

Amelia nodded, “That is kind of good to hear.” Her smile grew wider, “But guess what?”

“Yes?”

“I have a little surprise for you after we come from your daily exams.” She said, letting in ´suspense´ to Alfred.

Alfred groaned, “Just tell me.”

“If I tell you, then it will no longer be a surprise~ So deal with it and keep quiet.”

“Give me a hint?” He asked hopefully.

“Is someone that will help you to forget all problems.” She said, gripping slightly the steering wheel.

“His name?”

“Is a her.”

“Ok,ok. Her name?”

“You will ask her that later.”

Alfred gasped, “You don´t know her name?”

“Yes, I do. But I want you to ask her by your own.” She said and stuck her tongue out.

Alfred rested his back and stretched.

A girl will help me forget all my problems? That´s interesting. I don´t need anyone to help me. I can take my own mental disorder by my own. Alfred scoffed.

“Is something wrong?” Amelia asked.

“Nope.” He said calmly.

Soon they arrived to the hospital.

“I will be waiting here as always, ok?” Amelia said with a smile.

Alfred rolled his eyes but nodded. It was usual for her to say that.

The same boring routine…

Alfred waited not-so-patiently for his name to be called. The only reason why he had to wait every day for his name to be called is because he had to wait for the doctor that always attended him.

By now, he was sitting on a chair in the waiting room. He looked around, he was alone. Or maybe not at all…

For his all 15 years of coming to this hospital, for all those days, this is the first time he has seen someone else in the waiting room. In the waiting room for the exam he was about to receive.

His breath was caught in his throat at noticing the facial features of that particular girl sat on the other corner of the room. Despite her looking down on her cellphone, her face was still visible.

Alfred wasn´t totally aware that he had been staring at her too long that she has already rose her face to look at him.

It was too late when he noticed that. She was already smiling and shortly waved at him.

He gulped and turned around, looking away from her.

Sh*t. Now she thinks I´m a freak…wait… How I know she isn´t an hallucination?

He was disappointed that the girl he saw was an hallucination. OR maybe she wasn´t?

“Alfred F. Jones.” The voice came from the speaker, noticing him that the doctor has arrive and it was finally his turn to make his exam.

Before entering the office, he took one last glance to the [h/c]nette girl sitting. For some reason, he felt a warm aura coming from her.

After he finished his exam, he heard another name being called from the speaker.

He realized it was the girl´s name.

A soft and short wave of sudden warm flipped within him at the knowing of her name. But he didn´t paid attention to it at all.

Alfred entered the car again, sighing as he gave the results to his mother. She took it and read them, ”You haven´t gone any better or worst…Your results are the same…”

“I know…don´t remind me.” He became depressed again.

“Anyways, be happy!” She smiled, trying to cheer up her own son, “Besides, you will be able to meet her~!”

“Who?” Alfred asked.

Amelia looked at him with a kind of ´are-you-f*cking-kidding-me?´ face, “The girl, you idiot.”

“I was joking~” He chuckled, “I’m not so stupid, so shut up.”

She rolled her eyes playfully, ”HEH! Yah´ right.”

Suddenly, Amelia´s cellphone started to ring. Alfred gave a confused look at it but then just shrugged.

Amelia took it and answered the call ,”Yes?”

Since Alfred couldn´t hear the other person´s voice, he only understood whatever things his mother would say to the person.

“Wait, repeat?” She said, holding closer the cellphone.

Her eyes widened, “OH…ok…”

She hung up the call, then looked at Alfred, “Guess what?”

“What?” Alfred answered grumpily.

“The girl you was about to meet just told me that she had to assist to an exa-I-I mean, a small meeting with her teacher and sadly won´t be present this day.” Amelia sighed sadly, “So you will be seeing her tomorrow instead. Damn it, I really wanted you to meet her.”

“So tomorrow? Oh, well. What will I do.” Alfred crossed his arms in a ´I-don´t-care´ manner.

"Ok, I will have mercy with you. I will tell you her name.” Amelia said.

“Good!” Alfred said smiling.

“Her name is [Y/N].”

“Oh, that is good to hear…eh…sort of.” Alfred said carelessly.

Until it hit him.

Wait…wasn´t that the name of the girl that was in the waiting room…?
